The London Eye, Madame Tussauds and The West End

We were even later this morning than we had been yesterday, but it wasn’t as bad because we weren’t meeting anyone. Instead we shuffled around our plans and headed straight to the London Eye. With our Original Bus Tour tickers we had a second day of touring, but because the bus has so many stops we didn’t make it to the Eye in time to meet Tiffany, who had to go up early in order to catch her flight this afternoon. Instead we went up ourselves to see the landscape of London, all from the air. It really is quite an interesting experience to see the different perspectives as you’re moving over the River Thames; although I may or may not have been freaking out about the whole height thing.

We had McDonald’s for lunch (man we’re healthy) before catching the bus to Madame Tussauds, the wax museum. As we learnt in the ‘horror’ section of the museum, Madame Tussaud lived during the French Revolution where she used to make wax sculptures of famous people who had been guillotined ie. Marie Antoinette. The realism of some of the wax sculptures is amazing; there was more than once where we had to double take when thinking one of them was a real person. Justine was just pleased that she was nearly the same height as Johnny Depp; all the closer for kissing him I think.

When we left the wax museum we headed down to the West End to have dinner at Côte Bistro. We had a set menu of two courses to choose from that had come in a packaged deal with our tickets to see The Lion King that night. Off we toddled to the Lyceum theatre (where I bought yet another theatre t-shirt) to watch one of the most creative and amazing theatre productions I have ever seen. The costumes and set design were so well done for what would be such a difficult stage show to produce. It was just astounding; a love for Disney has nothing to do with it.
